The Institute of Dermal Science (IDS) is a leading training provider for careers in beauty and aesthetics in Ireland, with campuses in Ballymount, Dublin, and Castlecomer, Kilkenny. Established by industry expert Nicola Kieran, IDS delivers high-level education backed by more than 18 years of professional experience. IDS offers internationally recognised ITEC and VTCT qualifications across Levels 2 to 6, spanning entry-level to advanced aesthetics. Alongside formal courses, the Institute runs specialised workshops in areas such as injectables, Dermapen 4 skin needling, and fibroblast plasma pen—ideal for enhancing hands-on expertise and keeping pace with evolving techniques. The Institute also creates clear pathways for medical professionals—including doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and nurses—seeking to transition into aesthetics with focused training in anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, and mesotherapy.
Nicola Kieran
Our founder and head trainer Nicola Kieran has over 17 years industry experience, having worked and trained in both Ireland & Australia. Nicola qualified as a beauty therapist in 2007 (Ireland), and then spent seven years in Australia upskilling to become a dermal therapist. During that time, Nicola worked alongside cosmetic doctors gaining invaluable experience and knowledge in the aesthetics industry. Nicola now wants to share her knowledge and experience to educate therapists in the Irish Beauty & Aesthetics industry.
IDS Courses
At IDS we will be offering ITEC/VTCT certified courses in level 2, 3, 4 & 5 in Beauty, Makeup and Aesthetics. These NEW courses being launched are quickly being sought after as the Aesthetics industry has taken off over the last 2 years in the EU. Irish insurance now seeks that each individual must hold these qualifications to perform advanced aesthetics treatments as new guidelines are now in place.
